The ninth term takes place over a year after season eight's finale. The shrewd Sacred Heart hospital has been torn down and rebuilt and Doctors Cox, Dorian and Turk are very lately Winston University medical school professors whose students occasionally rotate through the modern Sacred Heart. Between the end of season eight and the opening of season nine, the Janitor has left the hospita>l after being told that J.D. was not returning, and Elliot and J.D. be seized of married and are expecting their first child. J.D.'s stay at the seminary of learning is short and he leaves the series after several episodes.
